If you have heard of pheromones before, but never really understood what all the fuss was about, you are not alone. Pheromones are a type of chemical, and they can be found in humans, animals, and insects. They are believed to bring forth a response from the opposite sex. Do human pheromones actually work? Scientists have been researching pheromones and their effect on humans for quite some time. There are even commercials that advertise pheromone cologne for men. The overall ratings of these colognes varies considerably. Some people truly believe that pheromone colognes work, while others say that they do not.

Some scientists are of the opinion that human pheromones are released through sweat. How do human pheromones get into colognes, then? These types of colognes use synthetic forms of pheromones. This, of course, triggers a whole new debate about how these colognes can be as effective as they claim to be.

So will spraying yourself with colognes that use pheromones attract the opposite sex to you? More than likely, the answer to this question is no. While it is not likely that colognes containing pheromones will get someone to ask you out on a date, it is possible that these colognes might be persuasive enough to get someone interesting to talk to you.

If you are a woman, perfumes that use pheromones will almost certainly enhance your appeal. You should not have unrealistic expectations, however. Even though some evidence indicates that pheromones have some effect on humans, the results are not at all conclusive.
