While it's not so much a concern for casual vacationers, many business travelers are taking advantage of the special designated checkpoint lanes to get through security quicker. Now available under certain conditions at many of the larger airports, this security option means a bit less hassle for the frequent traveler.
Electronic Devices & Gadgets
Nearly everyone on a business trip carries a laptop on the plane with them. The only requirement currently is that the computer be removed from it's case and passed through security screening equipment by itself in one of the provided bins. Other gadgets commonly carried by the business traveler such as cameras, personal digital assistants, pagers, call phones and GPS devices are allowed to be taken on board as either carry-ons or checked baggage.
Do take special precautions with you camera film as the security screening equipment can cause damage to your undeveloped photos. It's always best to request the security screener to inspect your camera equipment bags by hand and bypass the X-ray scanner to avoid damage to your film.
Traveling With Sporting Equipment & Accessories
If you're worried about keeping a healthy diet and workout routine while you're away, remember that some activity is often part of a business trip. A lot of business is routinely conducted on the golf course or even a tennis court. If you can work these sports in, you'll have no problem staying in shape while you're away.
The following items are not allowed to be carried on the plane: baseball bats, bows and arrows, golf clubs, hockey sticks, lacrosse sticks, pool cues, ski poles, and spear guns. But the good news is, you can travel with these items. You simply need to consider them part of your checked luggage. The following items are allowed as carry-ons: baseballs, basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, and golf balls.
Packing Personal Items
Those on business trips tend to carry more personal items than other travelers since they're away from home for extended periods for work. Because they're often gone for longer periods of time they need to have everything needed for the duration of the trip.
As long as your personal items are in containers no larger than 3 ounces, you'll be able to check or carry them on. Examples include: aerosol bottles and cans, lotions, creams, bath gel, bug repellant, eye drops, mouthwash and so on. If in double about objects with sharp edges, it's best to either check or leave them at home.
