These lists also include movies categorized by latest additions, critic choices, popularity, and alphabetically. Members themselves are sometimes allowed to rate and write reviews for the movies. Nothing beats a user's review when it comes to judging the pure entertainment value of a movie.
Paid download memberships possess very large archives of downloadable movies. Any online movies that are free and legal are almost always in the public domain which means that they are no longer copyrighted. These are the old films of the early 20'th century.
The web sites of the major TV networks have free television shows that are recent and popular. However, only a select few of these series are available and only for a limited time.
Movie membership sites offer you security from computer viruses, spy ware and mal ware. By contrast, getting free movies from questionable sources is a true risk to the health of your PC. If you're using a file sharing network for your downloads, you never know what sort of virus or spy ware might have been introduced into your file by someone else on the network.
These are just some of the benefits that paid online movie download sites have over the so called free alternatives that exist online and over your local video store. The benefits of convenience, economy, and speed, that the Internet provides over video rental stores are obvious. But the potential dangers associated with the 'free' online downloads are more significant than the shortcomings of the offline world.
